Scales- introduction to Modes (part 2)

Introduction to Modes 2 concentrates on the 7 modes found within the major scale. Each mode is explained and a video clip is provided to demonstrate how these modes sound over chord progressions.  Downloadable audio tracks for each mode are provided to accompany you in your practice of playing modes. Use these tracks as accompaniment using 4 major scale patterns discussed in the previous lecture. Take one pattern at a time and familiarize yourself with each mode using the rhythm tracks. When playing to these backing tracks, the guitar is best set to a clean setting. This allows the scale tones to be heard clearly and how each mode sounds against the chord progression. Once familiarized and comfortable with playing modes, you can then kick in the overdrive/distortion if preferred and just “go for it”.
